Richard Clarke – Consultant Neuropsychologist and Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Richard has 28 years’ experience working with individuals with complex needs. He trained in Lancashire and worked in the Greater Manchester region before finally leaving the NHS and relocating to Scotland in 2017.

Richard’s work includes assessing and developing treatment and therapeutic interventions for individuals who have additional needs. His experience includes working with individuals with learning disability, brain injury, autistic spectrum disorder, mental illness and personality disorder. Richard also works for the Courts as an Expert Witness in criminal and civil cases.

Richard feels that whatever an individual’s circumstances, everyone has the potential to learn and develop as an ongoing process through their lives. This is most likely to happen once individuals feel stability in their life and have a sense of direction. Richard works with the Deanston House Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to establish the best conditions for such progress. He works with Service Users to support them in their understanding and progress, and also provides training to the clinical team regarding the best ways to provide support.

When he is not working Richard enjoys lots of outdoor activities including sailing and open-water swimming.
